A-Z Challenge Day 19

Regular visitors to my blog will know all about My Friend Rosey. I've written about 90 stories about her over the past seven years.

Posted Friday April 22

Today’s seven S words are:-
Scarcement n. a narrow ledge on a wall.
Sylph n. a mythical being like a fairy or sprite.
Slimkin adj. small and slender.
Subtrist adj. rather sad.
Siffilate v. whisper.
Smatchet.n. a small nasty child.
Starified v. decorate with stars.

Rosey was sitting on her balcony with a bottle of Chardonnay and her beautiful sea view for company. Nothing unusual there I hear you say. The next thing I tell you however, you’ll either believe or not. Me? I’m sitting on the fence! Actually, it wasn’t me perched on the scarcement, but a slimkin fairy. The little sylph looked somewhatt subtrist. Rosey asked her what was wrong, and the fairy beckoned her over then siffilated in her ear. She said there was nasty little boy down below in the street and he’d very been rude to her. Rosey recognised the little smatchet straight away. He was a trouble-maker from her class at school. Rosey often sends him to the naughty corner.

The next thing you need to believe is that Rosey has a tame bee that often sits with her! Ok, I know, but bear with me. She sent the bee down to chase the wretched boy away and he ran off flapping his hands. The fairy kissed Rosey on the cheek then starified the balcony and flew away.

Rosey assured me that she hadn't imagined it because the lad arrived at school the next day with a swollen red nose. He told her he'd been stung by a bee.

  12. Keefie, you wicked person! OK, so I do have a vivid imagination, but not everything that happens to me can be explained by monochromatic reasoning. Look outside the box. I love fairies and so should you. Off you go to the naughty corner. NOW!

  15. Purely delightful story, Keith! In today's world we see more and more smatchets as parents have given up parenting in favor of gluing their faces to their tablets and phones! I will think of this word the next time I am at a restaurant and spot one causing a ruckus! :-)
